Capeta
Review by Takahashi Ryousuke
Taira Kappeita (his friends call him Capeta), who lost his mother at a very young age and has a father that needs to be watched over(He got ringworm because he didn't change underwear) gets a gift from his father. An old beat up go cart that was to be thrown away. He soon finds he has a gift for driving, and as the series progresses you see his fighting spirit and how he grows from a little kid to a Formula One driver. Although the show has shades of Initial D, the story will warm your heart as you meet all different kinds of racers and their attitudes. Some you'll like, and some, well...

Comic Party Revolution
Review by Kell Komatsubara
This OAV (original animation video) revolves around doujinshi comic artist Sendou Kazuki, and his trials and tribulations of being one. He meets up with a lot of other Doujinshi artist at a huge comic flea market called "COMIC PARTY". This story, was originally a H-Game from Leaf(H-Game is a Hentai game, or adult RPG game), and in 2001 was made into a 13 episode tv series. However, some things were changed from the game into the video. Since then, there were numerous new characters in the game, and this new OAV was born. From Aya-Chan, who is trying to get people to buy her books, to the OVERLY helpful Subaru, you will enjoy these characters, and probably see a little of yourself in them.

Cowboy Bebop
Review by Jenn Mitsuyoshi
Series - 26 Episodes, Sunrise 1998 It's bounty hunters in space with a jazz soundtrack! This series chronicles the adventures of a group of unlikely bounty hunters in the year 2071 A.D. In this futuristic world hardly anyone lives on Earth anymore, space gates allow for quick interplanetary travel and commerce, and customized ships replace tricked out automobiles. Due to the difficulty of interplanetary law enforcement, bounty hunting has become a booming business. A gangster and a police officer give up their professions and partner together in search of the bounty that will allow them to retire. As their crew slowly grows, every member contributes to each pursuit in their own way. It's not quite "Dog the Bounty Hunter in Space", but nearly every episode contains an entertaining chase and fight sequence. Each episode is a story in itself but bits of each character's back story are also presented through the duration of the series. Though light in appearance, CB isn't all fun and games. The characters all have some tragic aspect to their lives, with not much in common except that they all landed on the Bebop. The music is just plain fun and plays a very large part in the series.

The soundtrack is composed by the amazing Yoko Kanno of Escaflowne and Macross Plus fame. Heavy sax solos and light overtures effectively accentuate the on-screen action. The opening sequence and song, "Tank!", are like a kick in the pants. Kanno's ensemble, The Seatbelts, are a formidable group of musicians. Their ad-libs are extremely impressive, and the sax solos effortlessly reach near-impossible notes. CB is one of my top anime must-see recommendations. Outlaw Star, another anime title also released in 1998, followed a similar premise of young punks with cool ships in space.

I highly prefer Cowboy Bebop to Outlaw Star in that CB struck me as more mature, with intriguing storylines and the occasional moral issue, whereas OS was more just for fun.

In 2001, Sunrise released a full-length film, Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door, which is set between episodes 22 and 23 of the series.

Cromartie High School
review by Takahashi Ryousuke
Cromartie High School, is a school full of delinquents (Also read as idiots) who revolve around this one REALLY ODD student Mechazawa. To us, Mechazawa is OBVIOUSLY a robot and everyone in the school, except for Kamiyama and his friend, who leave themselves wondering if THEY are the ones who are odd. Mechazawa is cool, but for EVERYONE, including the rival schools to think he is a normal student, SOMETHINGS GOTTA BE WRONG? The artwork reminisces of Koike and Ikegami's Crying Freeman, and the storyline of that of the gang heydays of yesteryear. Don't take this series too seriously. You may become one who believes Mechazawa is a normal student as well...
